Introduction
Today marketplace offers some specialized tools which can be connected to laptops or PDAs, but their interaction with the latter is quite limited. It is possible to carry out a multifunctional multimeter able of integrating different technologies by integrating measurement tools actuated by electroni probes, components aimed to acquire and decrypt low-voltage analog signals and 3G mobile terminals.
In order to carry out such an integration, the equipment described should be connected to a 3G mobile terminal. It uses the mobile communication protocols features along with logic protocols suc as data exchange via SMS and MMS.
Along with these elements, it also uses the short-range connectivity provided by the mobile terminal, for example by means of a WIFI or a Bluetooth. The technological integration defined by this industrail invention associates a low-cost hardware interface to a 3G mobile terminal.
The core of the system consists of the A/D conversion unit, which is able of interacting with the environment by producing digital information via specific analog and digital probes. The interface module includes a GPS receiver able of providing geographical positioning absolute values which can be associated to the measurements acquired by the probe. The acquisition probe detects different measurement classes, depending on the application they are used in.
Three main detection classes exist:
- physical, electronic, dimensional etc. size measures;
- environmental measures (acidity, hardness, torbidity etc.);
- biomedical detection (electrocardiograph, ecograph, ecodoppler).
A generic acquisition probe is equipped with a connection interface to the conversion unit, which digitally organizes the collected data sending them to a mobile terminal that processes and archives them.
This invention is characterized by the innovative use of a single conversion element, along with its application integrated to the 3G mobile terminals.
